Anders Jonas Ångström,  (conceived Aug. 13, 1814, Lögdö, Swed.—passed on June 21, 1874, Uppsala), Swedish physicist, an originator of spectroscopy for whom the angstrom, an unit of length equivalent to 10-10 meter, was named.

Instructed at the College of Uppsala, Ångström got to be privatdocent (instructor) there in 1839 and succeeded to the chairmanship of the material science division in 1858. In 1843 he got to be eyewitness at Uppsala Observatory.
